A buddy of mine's kid was stung on Folly Beach by a man o war yesterday. There have been sustained on shore winds that are blowing the jellyfish towards shore. I would use caution while beach going until they clear out of the area. If you ever get stung by a PMW or a sting ray,,run hot water over the wound.
It kills ALL the pain INSTANTLY!!! (But you should still go to the doctor ASAP)

I have been hit by both!

I've been hit by many jellyfish, thank God I haven't had a PMW get to me yet, that's one experience I'd rather not have.

Most of the time they are very easy to spot floating around, but not always. We were out there a couple weeks ago and my son goes, "Daddy is that a jellyfish?" It was about 12 inches from me and I got out the water pretty quick! Stings are fairly rare on our beaches and PMW stings are not common at all. They are hardly ever seen near shore.

Grew up in Bermuda. Jelly fish stings were just what happened..PMW -- something else -- they hurt BAD!

My Mom said we would be playing in the ocean -- get stung -- come running to her crying and then 5 minutes later out again.

Kids ......sometimes you have to wonder -- lol.
