Due to my lack of physical stamina, I can't cook a full Thanksgiving meal. So, I'm looking for input from those of you who have "ordered in" your full meal.
Any first hand experience with the offerings in Mount Pleasant: Publix; Whole Foods; restaurant; etc.?
There will be six adults around the table and I'm looking for the traditional meal. Though I love smoked turkey, not for this holiday. And no seafood at all.
I do love to cook, so I will attempt a few dishes, prepping over time & with some willing helpers. But not the turkey & therefore not the gravy & not the ... whatever.
We're going to be a bit more casual this year, but that doesn't mean the quality of the meal should step back.
Thank you all!
I ordered a turkey and some sides from Rusty Rudder a few years ago and it was good. We have a Thanksgiving lunch at work and I believe they order from Publix. We get turkey and a few sides. That is also good.
Last year I discovered fully cooked butterball turkeys. They are great. It only takes 1 1/2 hours in the oven and it is done. I think they are better than the turkey I had ordered from Rusty Rudder. I just wanted to throw this out there for a possible option.
Mercantile & Mash
Whole Foods
I'd check with your favorite restaurant....they may do sides...and you might have to get a Publix turkey -- which is not a bad turkey.
I had the turkey from Publix - it was yummy.
The Whole Foods thing has to be decent because so many go back again and again.
It is opened on the morning of Thanksgiving. You can pick up some last minute stuff.
Heavenly Ham, MTP does it sort of. They have a baked Turkey Breast but a suggestion. Get a small Ham and sides from Heavenly Ham and bake your own turkey. Their sides are awesome. Stuff the Turkey with Pepperidge Farm stuffing. Easy enough to prepare a Turkey. The sides were the pain in the butt. Serve Ham and Turkey. Pies from Publix or HT's bakery.
So may good ideas -- thanks everyone.
Heavenly Ham has become Honeybaked Ham (since you moved, johngolf). That was my first thought ...but the way they slice meats, it just isn't the same as a carved turkey.
Unfortunately, Whole Foods prepared meats have disappointed me (beef satay skewers) as many times as they've pleased me (herb roasted chicken).
I'll look into Mercantile & Mash since I enjoy that place for many offerings. But I guess Publix is more what I'm comfortable with. And the sides will be whatever passes bye -- Trader Joe's has a delish cauliflower/broccoli mash-up!
At corporate events, we've used Sticky Fingers to cater thanksgiving before. They will typically provide ham, turkey, banana pudding, stuffing, green bean casserole, and tea. Things like that.
Also, check the local bbq joints and they will typically do a dinner as well.

You made me think , WiseMan ... and the "guest list" had a significant change, too.
So ... going rogue here & have ordered a turkey breast from Lewis Barbecue. No stuffing, gravy or mashed potatoes this year. Instead, Lewis corn pudding & roasted everything else. Yes!
Thanks for all the input & sorry to have bothered you all.
Happy Thanksgiving, CD-ers!
