Pay is not real good here in Charleston area. Most people speak of what they make, and I am betting it has to do with overtime or benefits, as a offer letter would promote, to make it sound like you get allot.

Sounds like a lot of companies were overstaffed to me. In the service sector, nobody is laying off unless directly related to hotels, tourism and restaurants.
