We are in countdown mode - moving to James Island in 12 days - unfortunately neither of our banks operate in the Charleston area. Any recommendations for a good local bank (especially one with branches on James Island so we don't constanty get hit with those nasty ATM fees)? We need regular checking, savings, Money Market acct. and IRAs and a mortgage down the road. Your experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I have been banking with Bank of America for many years and have been very happy with the services they provide. There seems to be a Bank of America everywhere you turn in SC, so you will never have to look far to find a branch. There are 2 on James Island.
My vote is for First Federal. They are exclusive to SC with maybe one or two branches in NC. Great service and friendly people. There are two branches on James Island, one on Folly Rd. and one on Harbor View.
Whenever I have a question I can call my branch and an actual person who can help me answers the phone! What a novel idea!
