Default Moving to South Carolina

My husband and I are considering moving to South Carolina, my best friend is relocating there on Friday and she and her family want us to join them. We really want out of Northern Indiana, as the winters are terrible, and its not a place where we want to grow old although are families are here. I am married with three children, and work here in the medical field, as a Medical Assistant (ABA-Medical Administration; Diploma-Medical Assisting/Phlebotomy) my husband is in the construction business. My husband would like me to find a job in South Carolina prior to the move so that we can move and go right to work, and that way we dont drain our savings, as we will also be looking to rent a home. I like the feel of a small town community and good schools, as that is what we are use to here in Indiana, and going to a town that you know nothing about that is pretty scary. Any suggestions to my thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I think coming to this board first was a brilliant move on your part. I know it can be terrifying moving to a new place, but it can also be very rewarding. You're bound to receive loads of advice and insight here, and we'll do everything we can to calm your fears. At the very least we can answer as many questions as you can throw out, so moving down here won't be much of an "unknown".

As to the medical field, it's one of the Charleston area's largest employers. With the number of local hospitals, nursing facilities, physicians, practitioners, etc., I'm certain you'll be able to get your foot in the door. Narrowing down the job would be the toughest part, after that, it's simply determining how much of a commute you'd like to that job.

As far as job searching goes, keep your eyes on charlestonjobmarket.com, craigslist and charleston.net (redirects you to monster.com) Those sites seem to be the best for job listings. You might also want to go to USMC's website for job postings. You husband may be pleasantly surprised with the construction market. While residential has greatly slowed down it is still much stronger than most parts of the country. Commercial construction is still going strong. What type of work does he do? I'c be glad to share my research if it help.

BTW - my husband (who is in construction also) and I are relocating this summer so I have been an internet junkie doing research.
