Default new construction plumbing??

We are looking at some new construction homes that use PEX plumbing. Has anyone had a bad experience with this? Any health concerns with the water supply running through plastic pipes? I read that calif. has banned its use. I would love to hear from anyone who has an opinion on this type of plumbing.
Thanks!!

There is a great deal of information on the internet concerning PEX plumbing. An informative article can be found at

Thanks USC joe
As a realtor, do you run into other potential buyers concerned about this type of plumbing or am I being too paranoid? Do you think buying a home with this type of plumbing will be a problem for resale down the road?

I have not seen a concern by my clients with PEX plumbing, but that is not to say that there could not be a problem with such plumbing at some time in the future. As a full time Realtor as well as a licensed attorney, I am reluctant as I would think all the Realtors on this forum would be to "sign off" on such material. We all would recommend that a buyer make any contract contingent on a home inspection by a licensed and experienced inspector. Your inspector should be able to give you advise with regards to such plumbing and his take on the issue.
