Jewish Community
My Husband and I are in the process of relocating to the Charleston area within the next few months. We were wondering if anyone knows of any specific areas where a Jewish population resides.
Thanks for your input.

The Crescent is a predominately Jewish area in West Ashley, just off of Folly Rd., in the South Windermere vacinity. I have many teacher friends who live there....most of their husbands are doctors so it is definitely a professional, white collar neighborhood.

There are also pretty noticeable pockets of Jewish families off Orange Grove and Ashley Hall roads in West Ashley. One of the temples is near Orange Grove (I think Park Shore is considered the specific neighborhood) and the JCC is on a road off Ashley Hall.
I never realized the Crescent had a large Jewish contigent. I always thought it was generic business owners and a lot of former downtown families. Just goes to show how viewing areas throught the people you know in it isn't always the whole scope.
At one point Wagner Terrace and Hampton Park had large Jewish populations. One of my former bosses was active with a Jewish historical group so I was fully versed in the intricacies at one point. He was always quick to point out a member of the tribe and had a blue book of local jewish businesses he liked to support. There is still a very strong Jewish community but newer transplants tend to associate more by location/profession/etc than religion. Same with the local Greeks.
