Info re: Goose Creek
Hi - Could anyone familiar with the Goose Creek area give me some information regarding the community; bad neighborhoods, areas to avoid? We are looking at a house, unfamiliar with the area, dont know the address yet but when I find out, I would like to go with some kind of idea of the area. I know there are "good" and "bad" areas in every city or town. I love South Carolina and the greater Charleston area, just really want this to work out.
The Goose Creek website looks good and I have checked out other area real estate; but I would really be interested in hearing from the locals.
Thanks!

Though not a local, I lived there for a few months. We were around the 176 and 52 interchange. I got a very good deal on a house there, and we really liked it. Area wise, we felt in our little bubble on the end of the block because all the neighbors were really kind and welcoming. There were other blocks in the neighborhood we didn't feel so safe on, but were probably just being overprotective.
It's kind of a hassle getting to work (if your heading southeast). Traffic is usually pretty bad on 26. It took me nearly 45 minutes to get to Daniel Island every morning and afternoon.
Also, they are older houses (at least were I was). So expect some palmetto neighbors (bugs) to visit when the lights go out. If it means anything, I'd much rather be back down there than the Chicago suburbs!

We lived in the creek of geese for 5 or 6 years in Crowfield...I have to say it was very nice! We had perhaps some of the best neighbors.
Not sure what part of the creek you are looking but from what we saw the HWY 176 side was by far the nicest.
We would still be living there now, we just needed more space and sold. Didn't move very far though...6 miles up the road!

Yes, it very much is. Goose Creek as a whole is a dump and is referred to by many outside of Goose Creek as "little mexico" for a reason. Crowfield is nice only because the housing prices are out of the price range for the "trash" of the area.

Excuse me but I live in GC and it is NOT a dump. There are many nice neighborhoods outside of Crowfield and more being built. The Mexicans are on the Redbank Rd side of GC around GC High. Here are the stats for GC. Does it look like it's 92% hispanic???
Races in Goose Creek: - White Non-Hispanic (76.6%)
- Black (14.2%)
- Hispanic (4.0%)
- Two or more races (2.4%)
- Filipino (1.7%)
- Other race (1.6%)
- American Indian (1.2%)

You're right, they're in Crowfield or on personal lots. Goose Creek is terrible hands down. The traffic is much worse than Summerville (and that's saying alot) and there are nothing but mexican's and blacks running around selling drugs and shooting each other. I wouldn't recommend anyone move to Goose Creek.
