hello, i'm a 34 year old entrepreneur and my girlfriend and i are looking to move to south carolina. from everything we have read, it seems to be everything we are looking for. ideally (and yes i know it was a movie) we are looking for a bedford falls, ny (from it's a wonderful life). a place where it has a main street/town square, town festivals, and where everyone is genuinely friendly. a great place to raise children when the time comes. i presently live in chicago and am ready for a smaller town. i have read great things about summerville and mt. pleasant. any suggestions or comments will be appreciated!

Actually, many parts of both of those cities would suit what you're looking for. I also wouldn't rule out parts of James Island.

Daniel Island is also pretty close to Bedford Falls, NY.

McClellanville is still the kind of place where everyone smiles and waves, which I haven't experienced anywhere else lately.
