I have been looking at realtor.com and it seems that you get alot for your money in NC. Is it really bad there. Does anyone know of a website that your exclude NC while looking at houses?
Thanks
Most of our websites will allow you to select the area's you'd like to search. Simply select everything -but- North Charleston, if that's your preference. However, there are some great neighborhoods in North Charleston that you might not want to overlook.
Try looking into neighborhoods like Whitehall, Woodington, Appian Landing, Wescott Plantation, etc. They straddle the North Charleston/Summerville border.

Wescott has a major health problem right now with leaking gasses somewhere. We looked at a house back in there and passed on it after the news broadcast. Erin Brockavich is dealing with the lawsuit. Also, the road that runs past Wescott and deadends at the end will be run all the way through within the next few years to connect Dorchester Road and HWY78.
I saw this post and I remember reading that North Charleston is one of the top 10 most dangerous US Cities. Other than that I don't know.
I wouldn't buy in No Cho but that's just be thinking about my kids and their future. You can get alot for your money in Ladson which is between Summerville and No Cho and it's a much better area.
IMO, the negative trade-offs are not worth the extra value you get for living in N. Chas. Traffic is horrible, and the crime really is worse there than the rest of the areas around Charleston.
As with any city, there are some nicer areas, but if you're not already living in the area, you might want to consider renting here for a while before buying anything in N.Chas. It's one of those areas where you probably want to be more familiar with the place before committing to buying anything.
As for alternatives, other places where you can still get a better value are Hanahan or Goose Creek. IMO, much better than N.Chas, but still less expensive than areas like West Ashley, Mount Pleasant, etc.
