Default Moving to Charleston area

OK, so this isn't entirely unlike some of the other posts, but regardless, I'm looking for some specific advice. I'm 23, just graduated from college and am finishing up grad school, and will be heading to the Charleston area in early August for a job. I have only been to the area once, last week, and I was only able to visit the historic district downtown. I need to find a place to live in an area with people my age, and, unfortunately, without being down there, combined with a lack of knowledge about the area, it's hard to do.

My biggest concern about moving to Charleston is that I don't know a single person in the area. I consider myself a pretty outgoing guy, and I've never had a problem meeting people, but I've also had the ease of meeting people in class, as co-interns, on sports teams, etc, which makes it fairly easy.

Anyway, my office will likely be in Mount Pleasant, or perhaps near E. Bay St. downtown, although that is unlikely. Can anyone tell me some specific apartment complex names/areas where there are people my age? I've heard Mount Pleasant and James Island, but what specific areas/apartments/condos in these towns would best fit my needs?

Thanks in advance for everyone's help.

On James Island, try Mira Vista, The Peninsula, The Regatta. Basically anything on Folly or Harborview Rd would be a good place to start.

Definitely live in Mt. Pleasant if your job is there. Don't live on James Island if your job is going to be in Mt. Pleasant. Even if it is downtown, I'd live on Mt. P. There's more to do and more ways to meet people. I always recommend Paces Watch b/c we have visited there before and it's pretty nice. As for where young people live, they are all over - w/ MUSC being there and the College of Charleston, you won't have a problem meeting someone. I don't know if you go to church, but go to East Cooper Baptist Church in Mt. P and you'll meet a TON of young people.

There are also lots of other apartment complexes in Mt. P - some are pricey though.

Good luck!
