Daniel Island/Charleston/Mt Pleasant Questions (travel, rental, hospital)

My husband has applied for another position within his company. The office is on Daniel Island. I know Daniel Island is very expensive. We aren't interested in buying at all (we don't know how long we will be there.)

We will be traveling on two "look and sees." I have some family in the area but I'm not sure how much they will be able to help us.

These are the things that are important (in no particular order):
1. We need a large, active church nearby. We are Southern Baptist but would consider a non denominational or such. We enjoy our contemporary services, small groups (for Sunday school etc, etc. Childrens activities and women's ministries are important as well. Large churches don't scare us at all. (Our current church has 4 packed services.)

2. We are looking for a reasonable commute for DH.

3. We are looking for good schools. We would be willing to put our daughter (starting Kindy this fall ) in a private Christian school if the cost was reasonable. Our daughter wears orthotics for her feet and we want her in a supportive enviroment.

4. We need access to some specialists. A pediatric pulmonologist, a pediatric orthopedist and potentially a maternal-fetal medicine specialist.

5. We need a gym with childcare.

I can't answer all your questions, but I will try to give you an idea. 1) I attend Seacoast Church which is a non denominatinal, multi-campus church. The campus in Mt Pleasant is the largest and the original. Offers many different types of worship. Traditional to very contemporary. SMall groups take the place of SB Sunday School. Visit welcome to seacoast church for information. They also have a very active internet prescence, so you can listen to current sermons. Having come from a traditional SB church, I'm still trying to get into the contemporary style, but enjoy the messages and the atmosphere for worship and fellowship. 2) Mt Pleasant (MTP) is a reasonable commute to Daniel Island. Since you will be renting, there may be some affordable rentals on DI. Rentals of 3 bedroom 2 bath homes in DI or MTP can range from $1600-2500/month 3) Good schools in Mt Pleasant, not sure about costs of Christian Schools 4) We have three major hospital systems in the Charleston area, one being the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) They have a Children's Hospital division, so I feel sure that they would have the specialists you require. 5) Don't know about the fitness centers with day care.
