I saw a layout that showed an Outback was coming on the corner of 78 next to Sonic's, so maybe that is true. A Liberty would be nice. I agree we need more variety around here which is why everything is so crowded all the time. We also get people from the surrounding areas like Goose Creek right now because they don't have too much to choose from themselves. The IHOP and the Chili's on Dorchester next to Walmart did go up pretty quickly. I'll give credit for that.

I would love an Outback in Sville and am sure it would do well, considering the popularity of all of the other chains here. We drive to the one in Mt P when we want to go b/c the one at Rivers is insane. Not sure who designed that parking lot, but it is ridiculous, especially on a Friday night.

That parking lot is ridiculous at any time of the day. About like the one across the street where Old Navy is. Makes you wonder if the same person designed them both.

That IS one of the worst designs in parking lots I have seen.
There is also an Outback in West Ashley on Sam Rittenburg as well.
Low traffic & easy parking.

there's a really bad area immediately behind that shopping center, there's a reason nothing is there...a serious crack area is within feet of that parking lot with many thugs that often rob and beat each other... occasionally shooting one another, gang bangers etc... fixing up that area reminds me of the stupid idea of building tanger outlet where they did, that's an ago old dope/crack area as well where many have been killed within blocks over the years... Tanger Outlet has already had many robbings, several shootings, a couple murders, kidnappings and sexual offenses of a high and aggravated nature... not to mention all the things that never hit the news and it's brand new... you can put all the lipstick and rouge you want on a drug infested area but when it's all said and done you still have a drug infested area... if they build it they will come... lol... go at your own risk, and take a weapon

this forum's format isn't working, seperate lines are not staying seperate... using the enter key to drop a cpl lines or trying to double space does nothing, someone needs to fix it

Meks, are you talking about behind Heritage Square? Those apartments are bad. I read an article that said when the shopping center gets redone there are plans to demolish those apartments so they can use that area as an entrance. Let's hope that happens, but I'm not holding my breath. It could be another 10 years.
I pretty much try to avoid North Charleston at all costs except to drive through it, that's about it. Can't even tell you the last time I was on Rivers Avenue. I flat out refuse to go out that way. The Mall? Nope, won't go in them, don't feel safe, especially Northwoods. I think as more town centers and outdoor shops get built the malls will become a dying breed anyway. My shopping is limited to either Summerville or Mount Pleasant if I am out that way. Hopefully this Carnes Crossroads area will bring some better options as well.

Meks- The proposed "town center" for Summerville is supposed to be across 78, not in the Heritage Square plaza. However, there have also been talks (for quite a while, from what I understand) to redo Heritage Square as well. Don't think it will be a big shopping center, just another revamped strip mall.
I agree with sj about avoiding N Chas. I don't go to that mall much and never alone. Its worth driving to Mt. P for a safe place to shop. Not to mention that mall always smells weird
I hadn't heard any of the things about the Tanger outlets. Hopefully since that area is becoming all shops, it will get better. I usually only go with other people on Saturdays when its already crowded.

I worked in Northwoods for many years and never had a problem there. My daughter currently works there and so far hasn't had any problems. I rarely shop in there because I don't care for the stores that have moved in. The only store worth going into now is Dillard's. However I do shop at other store's around the mall. Rule of thumb is always be aware of your surroundings.
