Default Gas for Homes, where does SCEG offer it?

Curious as to where you can have natural gas through SCE&G in Charleston/Summerville area. I think it is better than electricity per sey for some things.

The infrastructure is there for nearly everywhere in the Charleston/Berkeley/Dorchester county area. Though some neighborhoods haven't run gas lines. You're best bet is to check here SCE&G - Service Area, Natural Gas, Electricity, South Carolina, and then call to check on specific areas/neighborhoods to see if they service gas in that specific area.

I'd rather pay slightly more and have all electricity, than have natural gas lines run in or near my house. Thank you.

Do not get sce&g for gas services. I have spent thousands of dollars on gas that went up in the air as a leak that did not serve its proper purpose. Numerous times sce&g came to my premises due to smelly gas fumes. There were so many leaks that fixing one did not solve the problem. They led me to believe all was solved. My bills were close to $300 monthly with no heat. We froze. I finally had the gas shut off before my house blew up or killed us with fumes (this i can verify from an sce^g employee who arrived..). I would have loved for sce&g to fix my leaks so i wouldn't have to replace all of my appliances with electricity. They would not fix the leaks. I now have a new electical hot water heater and dryer. The gas lamp, gas logs, and gas grill can no longer be used. I have only called sce&g for help. No sub-contractors...

It sounds as though the leaks were your responsibility. Does SCE&G handle in home plumbing of the lines? I don't know myself that's why I'm asking. Do you normally get SCE&G to plumb your appliances or do people get private gas contractors to do this? I'm pretty sure SCE&G wouldn't come wire your house for electricity. Same goes for the water company...they wouldn't come work on the plumbing in your house.

Normally when a leak is on your side of the meter (and it obviously was as you were being charged for the gas) it is the responsibility of the consumer in regards to leaks. The gas company (or water company as well as the electrical company) doesn't generally take responsibility for what goes on opposite the meter box.
