Hi there - I've done the NY to SC thing - and although at first it's a bit of a bit of a change, you're really going from NY to super rural in some of the areas that you had mentioned, if considering the Charleston area, Johns Island has land for sale - you would be spending about $200k for an acre or so - but the biggest consideration, at first, is to understand your lifestyle and base your choice of property around that. Would it be important for you to be within 30 minutes of a beach or any nightlife? Do you like neighborhoods where you will be close to other neighbors and socializing? To live in a subdivision or not? School systems? I would definitely say that Bklyn/LI/Miami route that you are pretty used to having prople around - and although it is your point to "de-congest" (new word?) - you also don't want to alienate yourselves tooooo much! Budget per acres would also narrow things down....there's a lot of great 3-5 acre spots, but like I said - your lifestyle should very much be taken into consideration as well. Then, book at trip down with a realtor who can assist you in different options to consider!

It is beautiful here and I've never regretted the decision to move for a minute, I live in MtP, close to the beach and I personally like being close to "everything", but I can certainly appreciate having a lot of land and privacy!
