Default Folly Beach wedding

I am planning on having a wedding on Folly Beach in October and was wondering whether there are any beach fees or whether we can just go to the beach and get married without any problem. A friend of mine said that a lot of parties after weddings take place on the pier. Does anyone know if that requires a fee?
Thanks

why not check with the bar and grill on the pier see if you can rent a party room???? a lot of people fish on the pier and you won't be able to keep it private because it is a public area, but i think there is a covered shelter for rent ....www.follybeach.com even better the holiday inn is a wonderful hotel there that would definitely be my first choice to throw a reception...

the park at the end of folly beach may already be reserved (but i don't know what day you're planning your wedding) but it's super cute and not too pricey if you get married during the day. Charleston County Parks and Recreation when i helped design weddings, we did the wedding on the beach and then everyone drove down to the park for the reception. it was beautiful.

however, i'm not sure about the pier. you may just have to call. you can access the pier's website though the link above as well. it's all a part of the charleston parks system.

best wishes!!

I've been to & seen weddings at Folly, but never actually on the pier itself. If it's a laid back reception, the County Park can be very nice.

Just be aware that the wind kicks up everyday around 3pm & it can get pretty sandy.

Would love to know what you wound up doing for your wedding. I am planning to be married at Folly Beach as well. It is also my favorite beach.

I plan on having my wedding June 2010 at Folly Beach. So far I have heard mixed reviews about having a 1030-1100am wedding. We wanted to have an evening wedding then thought about cutting back on costs and allowing our guest to go home early, or enjoying the beach if they choose to. Well we thought we had everything under control. I was given advice to consider that on a Sat we will have very heavy beach traffic, also the beach itself will be crowded, and very hot. Has anyone gone to a beach wedding on a June morning? The recepetion will be at the Shelter.

June on the beach is hot, I would recomend an early wedding, if it is going to be on a Sat, the beach will start getting really crowded by 10am.

Thank you OleTomCat. What time does the beach traffic clear out?
