But to say Summerville only has one is crazy. I rode with Summerville PD for 2 years and its not all cookies and cream in Summerville believe me. There is more than 1 bad area in the ville.

That being said I'd live in Summerville or North Charleston.....just in the right area.
I never said Summerville only has one bad area, I said that they could only name onen bad area of Summerville, while I could name more than ten bad areas of N. Charleston.

no, i am agreeing with you! i know WA, MT P, JI, all these areas have bad sectins and crime too...areas not so good and good in close proximety. but i guess it just seems like in N Chas..like there are more not so good areas in relation to "good" areas.

and speedaddicted..i am going to disagree. i do think in schools kids with different values DO spill over onto other children. how can you possibly say that?!

[quote=RiWrites;8094364]FYI, Wikipedia isn't a reliable source. Anyone can post info on it.

Knives and razors are items people use in their everyday lives. If someone wants to kill themselves they can find a number of methods to do it. such as drinking bleach, taking pills, hanging themselves etc. A gun serves no other purpose but to kill something with. Like I said it is my choice not to have one and your choice own one. [quote]

Guns are used everyday also, and they do serve other purposes, but their primary purpose is to kill, and yet they are not at the top of the list....

And I said I hate using Wikipedia, but it was fast and I was pressed for time.

Maybe they do at your house, but my kids still know right from wrong, what is acceptable behavior and when not to "follow the crowd" etc. They do learn from other kids but they dont follow them, I guess that is a better way of putting it.

I'm sure thats very do-able considering N.Charleston has more suspect neighborhoods than Summerville to the average joe.

I can name quite a few more than one bad one in the ville.....

So can I have lived here for nearly 20 years, but I am also in a neighborhood watch program. I also use my cell phone and call in anything suspicious in other neighborhoods. I am proactive about improving the bad areas of Summerville not sticking my head in the sand and ignoring them like the person who lives in one of the 'Kopi Luwac' neighborhoods in N. Charleston.

Funny you say that because I said the same thing to a couple people the other day. I asked them if they took anypart in making thier area safer. Thier reply was " Thats the police department's job" You reap what you sew.

I am showing my age, but I remember when neighbors looked out for each other. Now it is considered being nosy.

To show what people can do, on tv they showed a neighborhood that was going downhill because of prostitution and drug dealers. These neighbors decided they had enough so they got together with video camera and started filming. At first they were threatened but they kept going. Like vermin that they are the prostitutes and drug dealers left the area. They showed how the place is now and it was a complete 180. It is now a very nice place to live. The cops can only do so much because of budget cuts there aren't as many of them.

We either all work together or we all go down together.
