Default do they have any care giver jobs in the area

I am thinking about moving to the summerville or surrounding areas from upstate ny. My daughter and espicially my 3 year old grand-daughter just moved to Summerville with her husband in june this year. Up here, I am self-employed with helping in home with the elderly, doing errands, cooking, housekeeping, companionship, Dr. apts, etc. plus I do some housekeeping for other folks. I get 15.00 hr. here in the little village I live in, which is about 50 miles south-east of Rochester, NY. Do they have a need for this around that area?

I know that in the upstate you can get an agency for around $16 an hour and they guarantee a replacement if the primary gets sick, do the criminal background checks, manage taxes, etc..

We have an in home caregiver and the going rate around here is $9-$10 an hour which is, I think, about what you may get working for an agency.

I work at an assisted living facility and there is definitely a need for caregivers. Unfortunately, the pay rate is lower than most states as someone posted above. Good luck!

My inlaws have a care giver for one of their mothers. I know they have been through quite a few people from a few diffrent services. They have had a really hard time finding someone reliable and who does the LITTLE bit of work they are supposed to.
I know most of the services they were paying 15-16 an hour and the caregiver was getting something like 7-9.
Before they went through a service they looked all over for someone doing it on their own andcouldent find anyone. Now they have a girl that they had got through the service but she left the service and they are dealing with her direct, I think they are paying her $12 but shes horrible.
I think if you went out on your own and were responsible and reliable that there would be plenty of work for you. I know my inlaws are willing to pay more for someone good.

Wow, I can't believe they have been having such a hard time finding someone. I have been working for one family here for 4 years next month. I started out as a sort of companion for the wife that had recently been diagnosed with Alzheimers, she eventually went in a nursing home and unfortunately passed away. I have stayed on helping the husband. I do housekeeping, errands, meals, some personal care etc. I have a fantastic relationship with the family. I also help other people. What kind of care does she need?

Not much! They mainly have someone becuase they are not home much. Just really feed her lunch (which is pre made 90% of the time), help her shower 2-3x per week, clean her room and bathroom.
Shes actually very mobile and in good shape. She had fallen a while ago (when she got dressed up for dinner in 4" heels and was moving too fast) and they are worried about her being alone and something happening again.

In the begining they had people cleaning the rest of the house, doing her laundry etc. Clothes kept getting ruined, the house was never cleaned etc. so they gave up on it.

If you move down here and are looking for work send me a msg and I will put you in touch with them.
