Wait wait didn't Dorchester County pass BSL? Contact the Charleston Pitt Rescue and get info from her, can't remember her name now, but if anyone would know about local laws against pitties it would be her.
But stay out of Dorchester County until you know for sure your baby is safe there.

Dorchester County threw it out. I am the Director for New Hope Pit Bull Rescue. There are other pit bull rescues in the area so to anyone out there, DO YOUR RESEARCH ON THEM. PLEASE. That's all I'm saying.

I dont think you have to worry, esp if you live in Berkeley County.
We lived in Goose Creek, next door to 2 crazy pitt's with an owner that was even crazier (Im sure the dogs were they way they were bacause of her). First day we had the house 1 of them jumped the 3ft fence and my bf had to beat him off with a shovel. We had continues problems. Called Berkley County animal control, they told me that they couldn't do anything and there was no laws to protect us unless the dogs attacked one of us and did harm. After some research I found a law that said a viscous or unruly dog has to be contained (on a chain, behind a fence he cant jump etc.) I called animal control back and read the law off to them. They told me to get proof and they would do something. I got pictures and video of the dog going over the fence. Gave it to them and they still wouldn't do anything. I actually had the cops called on me by animal control because at that point I was getting very anrgy that I couldn't even go in my own back yard and these people were useless, I said this is F***ing ridiculous over the phone which apparently it's illegal to curse over the phone. Luckily the cop took my side and actually went back and gave animal control a hard time.
It all came to a head one night when I needed to get something outa the garage which the door was near the fence by the pitts who were outside and going nuts, it was totally dark and I couldn't see them. I went and knocked on the ladies door and asked her to bring them in just for 5 min so I could get something outa the garage and she freaked out on me. I called animal control again, and was on the phone fighting with them, in the meantime the lady and a few of her b/f's came over to my house and was having a loud talk with my bf outside. All of a sudden I heard the dog going nuts screaming and a gunshot. The dog went after my bf got him in the leg and my bf shot him point blank in the head. The guy from animail control heard everything over that phone and finally that got their attention and he came (along with the cops because the lady claimed my bf was shooting at her kids)
The lady claimed the dog was never outa the house, but animal control couldn't go see them because they were worked up. He wrote her a summons to go to court, I forget exactly what it was for but basically to have the other dog taken away from her.
We went to court in Moncks Corner, We had the dogs choker with the tags that proved it was his, that we had found in our backyard the next day, and my bf's leg was messed up. Yet somehow that wasn't enough proof that the dog was even in our yard, no less dangerous. The lady got off scott free and got to keep her dog, and went and got another pitt.
To top it all off a couple months later we ended a rescuing a 1/2 pitt that was seriously abused. Someone (I wonder who) called animal control on us and claimed he was vicious (hes such a wimp if someone he doesn't know comes in the house he runs in the corner and pee's) We got a letter on our door saying something to the effect that he must be contained at all times etc. Thats as far as it went, but heck thats a heck of a lot more than I could ever get animal control to do.

they should all be removed from this earth, that was a very bad breeding process to create them that has gone terribly wrong...
no other breed do you hear these constantly viscous and fatal stories about
they are useless and should all be sterilized IMHO so there are no more brought into this world
many say it's the owners fault but how do you explain the hundreds of attacks on perfect owners or neighbors from what seemed to be perfect pets for so many years until they turned one day, one fatal day that the clock can never be turned back on
I would have shot him too, but way before it got to that point...
and yes I know plenty about them too, my nephews uncle on the other side of the family is David Tant... one of the most well known breeders in the world

Did any of Mr. Tant's dogs attack people? You've brought him up before and second hand knowledge of a person can be really different from the way things actually happen.
And who says the owners were perfect? There are lots of situations that are NEVER reported that lead up to dog bites/attacks. The media is out to put fear in people, even if that means leaving out the facts that contributed to an attack. Don't forget that all dogs have teeth and are capable of biting/killing. There is NO one study that comes to the conclusion that pit bulls are fanatical killing machines that just "go off" one day. There are signs. There are behavioral issues that go unaddressed. There are factors of no training or guidance. There are factors that people encourage the behavior not believing its a big deal. There are factors where people ARE NOT SUPERVISING their children. No child should be left alone with a dog of any age.
National Canine Research Council
Just take a gander at that site. Not breed specific in anyway.
Don't get me wrong, there are definitely some dogs out there that are unstable in temperament but that is with any breed. No one should be putting this on an entire breed of dog. That's like putting the actions of one person in a race of people on an entire race of people.
See this pretty girl?
Someone allowed this to happen to her. Whether they simply neglected her and she got into a tussle with another dog or whether she was tied up and left to defend herself or die she didn't ask for this. She didn't ask to have her lip torn off. She didn't ask to be bred over and over again to where her teats may never tighten back up. All she asked for and continues to ask for is LOVE. She gets along famously with people of all shapes, sizes, ages, and animals of all sorts. She just wants her people.
So, sorry its a little offensive to me that you think she should die when it was originally at the hands of a human that she was born and that she wound up in the condition she's in. She's about 4 years old. Hasn't "just turned" yet and won't happen because she's a stellar representative of the classic people loving nature of the breed. Something that was INTENTIONALLY bred for with the breed.
