Default whats a good income for living in charleston?

my wife and i are considering moving from east tn. to the charleston area... i dont really know a whole lot about the area as far as "cost of living". i was hoping i could get an idea of a good income for us to live comfortably... we would be renting (preferably a 2 bedroom apt.), because we plan to only move away for a few years before moving back to build a house.... if anyone has any advice or comments they would be much appreciated... thank you

There is a cost of living comparison on bankrate.com, if you go there you can compare metro areas. Since you have East Tenn. as your current residence, I guessed that might be Johnson City? Comparing there to Charleston, you'd need to increase your income by about 11% from what you currently make to maintain your standard of living. Check it out though, it breaks down costs pretty well.
