Smile Need an apartment in a NON-apartment complex in James Island or Mt.Pleasant!

Hi everyone. I am a recent transplant from Chicago and am looking for an apartment in James Island or Mt. Pleasant. The only catch is I don't really want to live in an apartment complex. I would rather find a carriage/coach house or a frog or the top or bottom floor of a house that is converted into an apartment. I am a single 29-year-old teacher looking to be around other professionals in their 30s, a one bedroom, and a nice, clean safe area where I can walk my 100-pound lab. I am looking to spend $750/month. I will be working in Summerville (but don't want to live up there). I have tried Craig's List but haven't had enormous success. Thank you, I appreciate any and all feedback!

That's a tough one. I don't know of any converted/carriage like homes in the Mount Pleasant area for rent. Have you looked downtown? May have more luck.

There's an old ranch house on my street that has been converted to a duplex. It just rented last week.

I'd definitely drive around the James Island area to see if you can find anything.

Good luck!

A lot of homes on Daniel Island have seperate garages with FROGS over them and many homeowners rent them out - you might want to google Daniel Island and check the classifieds for listings, they rent for about $800/month I was told
