the mosquitos here bother me more then the heat/humidity! it was tolerable/fine until say june...now we can't even be out for 10 minutes without coming in looking like we have chicken pox! they don't seem to bother everyone.... but they really seem to go after us! they are way worse on james island then anywhere else it seems. not a problem for us on beaches at all though! can't wait until the weatehr cools off and the bugs and spiders are not so bad!
It's really hit or miss. WWF is getting assaulted on James Island by bugs, and I spent all day outside yesterday without a single one. I can drive to Daniel Island right now and park by the bridge, and the mosquitoes will attack the windshield. Like I said here a year ago, it depends on breeding grounds. If there is standing fresh water that is allowed to stagnate, then they have a breeding ground. I honestly thought we had the biggest meanest mosquitoes on the planet, then I spend three weeks in the Minnesota summer...
This is definitely not an isolated regional problem...we live at the Jersey shore and I cannot walk outside at any time of day without coming in covered in bites...mosquitos and gnats...it is horrible...they don't do any spraying here that I know of. Definitely am going to look into one of those mosquito repellent systems when we move down. I always wondered if they really work??
When I grew up on the Jersey shore, Mays Landing and Egg Harbor City, they used to spray every evening, we would ride our bikes behind the trucks.....
Maybe that explains a few things.....
LOL...that is funny !!
