Default Mosquitos in Mount Pleasant?

Hello, I have two young children and we are thinking of relocating to Mount Pleasant from Tucson, AZ. I'm wondering how the mosquitos are. We plan to spend a lot of time outside, in the yard and at the beach. Hopefully at the ocean a couple days a week and in the yard everyday. Right now, we can't go outside without being attacked by mosquitos and I'm wondering if it is the same way in Mount Pleasant and or Sullivans Island or Isle of Palms (beaches). I would appreciate any and all info! We are flying to the area next Friday to check it all out.

They can get annoying in the above areas, yes. Of course there's always the ocean breeze coming through IOP and Sullivan's and into Mt. Pleasant, but some evenings in the summer it's just not enough.

Plus you have the gnats here to. I think they are worse than the mosquitos.

I agree my mil lives on IOP and the bugs are worse at her house than mine in Mt Pleasant.

Mosquitos should be our state bird....

If you are at the beach mosquitos are not to bad, the gnats do get bad though.

For the backyard, use your deet.

There are definitely times that they're bad. With the rain we've had recently, they are very bad right now.

If you have standing water, there will be mosquito issues around here. Low lying areas are particularly vulnerable after it rains, and Mt P has lots of low lying areas! They are kind of stealthy this year. A week or two can go by with no problems, then they attack in squadrons when you have been lulled into a false sense of security. (usually a day or two after a good rain) Yeah, we got some nice big ones.

I hate love bugs, too! They are so annoying. This am about 4am (I was up with my baby) I heard the mosquito patrol spraying..That's a good thing!
