I am a middle school teacher from Ohio and really, really, really want to teach and live in the Summerville area. I am a very active professional and actually have a few potential contacts in the area. What are my job prospects as a male teacher? I am certified in grades 4-9 math and social studies.

Check out their website, Dorchester SD 2 - Home August 2008. As of a last week they were still in need of teachers but I am not sure which subjects/grades. Call the district tomorrow. Good luck!

Make sure you call. I have placed people lately that only got in by being persistent. Math & Science should be a bonus.

I currently have a job in Ohio right now, but I want to teach in Summerville next year. I have all of the information I can access about Summerville and all the districts around the Charleston area. I know all of the schools test scores, demographics, etc. I am doing my homework so I make the right decision when I decide to move next summer. If you wouldn't mind telling me a little more about Summerville I would really appreciate it. I am 23 years old and I am looking to live close to the ocean. I live a very active lifestyle so would Summerville be a good fit for me since it is close to Charleston and the beach. Also, would I be able to get a nice 2 bedroom apartment around the 800-900 range?

You should be alright in Summerville for a nice 2bdrm around that price.
You will be about 45 minutes from the ocean in S'ville though.
Do some 'advanced' searches on this board, there are tons of information.
