Default Input on Summerville for a possible move please

I am interested in working and playing in Charleston, but not necessarily living there. My wife and I are seriously considering Summerville, or another close by area. We don't know anything about Ladson, Goose Creek or Hannahan, but we have been to Summerville and thought it was nice, and seemed to have a family-oriented atmosphere. What is it like living in Summerville, what are the nice/not so nice parts, what are the schools like, what do people do on the weekends, etc. Also, any input on other areas is appreciated. Important things to me are that there are ample stores to choose from, schools that aren't horribly hoorible (I believe that the parents are more of an influence with education than the actual school, so decent but not perfect is ok), are there hospitals close by, etc.

My parents, my husband, my 4 year old daughter and I moved to Summerville in September 2007. My brother, his wife and 3 girls moved down (and bought the house next door) a month later. And my sister and her family is coming down next month (fingers crossed). We love it here. We're in Indian Springs. It's a very quiet and very family oriented subdivision. Most subdivisions have a pool and recreation area/playground ... Indian Springs doesn't. Luckily we have a pool, so it's not a big concern for us, but I've heard neighbors mention it. However, we don't have a homeowner's association so that's really nice.

We're still learning about the area and things to do, but here's a few links to site that might be helpful:

Oh, one more thing ... I know a great realtor too! She did a great job for us and my brother ... and hopefully my sister, when she gets down here. If you want her contact info just let me know.
