The IOP refers to the Isle of Palms beach community adjacent to the town of Mt. Pleasant. A great public beach as is the adjoining Sullivan's Island beach. Housing however is quite expensive on Sullivan's Island as well as the Isle of Palms. I'On is an upscale community of homes in the town of Mt. Pleasant. Beautiful architecture but quite expensive homes and most quite close together. I published a few photos of the Isle of Palms and the I'On community on this web site a week or so ago that you might want to take a look at.

IOP = Isle of Palms, a barrier island which is fairly heavily developed just across the salt marsh from Mt Pleasant. Well visited beaches. I'on is a planned "concept" subdivision of some few hundred homes in Mt Pleasant (East of the Cooper) which has a very tight lot-line village-like feel to it; rather pricey (about $700K and up), but well recieved by most accords.
You can probably get some supplemental info on some of the new developments you've been looking at by trying to surf them by name.
cheers,Steve

neighborhoods
I like Pine Forest Country Club a lot. It is close to the high school & to town, has lots of amenities, and is home to lots of transplants.
I know some people in Legend Oaks who love it there as well, but the kids in there definitely won't be attending Summerville High.

The children in Legend Oaks are now in Summerville HS. They will be attending the new HS when it opens

IOP is the Isle of Palms... on the coast, very nice area, beautiful homes right on the beach.
I'on is a community within Mount Pleasant about 10 years old and incredibly picturesque... homes in both spots are very expensive... high 6 figures to millions-plus...
Wescott has a 27-hole golf club that is semi-private... you do not have to live there to play, but it is on property and offers memberships if you play often... check out www.wescottgolf.com for golf and www.drhorton.com for new homes at the Farm at Wescott.

Hello.
I was just looking for pictures of Summerville when I came across this site, so I signed up! Everyone has great information on here. My husband and I are visiting in April with the hopes of moving in May from 'Sunny Syracuse NY'. How is the employment in the area? I have a few apartments to look for on my list but most are in Goose Creek. Any ideas for Summerville area? I am also bringing a horse and would like find a full care stable to board at.
Any pictures of the area to help ease my husbands mind wuld be great if you have them!!

Summerville Pictures
Hey MPGTLG1 (How do you pronounce that?!!
I went looking for pictures as well! Here are a few leads...
1. The official Summerville SC homepage (Google is your friend!)
2. I believe the Charleston SC tourism page has some photos
3. I found this by Googling (is that a word??) "pictures of Summerville SC" - outdoors.webshots.com - has some great photos done by members who have visited!
Hope that helps...if I find anything else, I will post!

Just visited Summerville
My family and i are also relocating to summerville sometime in the next year. We are currently in Michigan and the economy has dried up. When in SC last week, I looked at a lot of neighborhoods, a lot of which fall into your price range. The neighborhood I am leaning towards is Westcott Plantation. A lot of new construction is mixed in with old as well ( old being about 2-5 years old for what I can Tell ). The neighborhood seemed very inviting and the Summerville area as a whole was very nice.

Westcott Plantation
Thanks for the info on Wescott Plantation!
Again, because of what I have seen on-line, it has made our short list! Positive feedback is definitely a plus and adds to the appeal!
Any feedback on the golf/club at Wescott?

Golf Club at Wescott
I have not had a chance to golf yet, bu my wife and I went to lunch at the club and were very impressed with the food and service... not to mention the price... very reasonable for clubhouse dining.
