Default Charleston in a day; HELP

Ok, Tough question I know. But my family (wife and 15 year old boy) will be spending a Saturday in early Nov. to sightsee Charleston while we look at homes in Mt. Pleasant. I could use suggestions on what to visit in Charleston in a very limited time frame. I'll also gladly accept your comments on Mt. Pleasant as well. This is a first time visit from NJ looking to relocate ASAP. Can't wait to see the area; I've heard it's beautiful!! Thanks.

Default Shem Creek

Since you'll be in Mt Pleasant, you should check out Shem Creek for lunch or dinner.

Take a carriage ride downtown, good history leason and lets you know where most of the important areas are, try to get the battery tour. 15 year old may not like it much, but you sure will get lucky that night.

Just one day to visit Charleston and sight-see homes in Mount Pleasant? That's rough. Basically just head downtown for a few hours and tour the Battery and Market Street. There's way too much to visit and see in just a day, you're not going to get much of a feel for anything, so you might as well go where you can find a lot in a very small area.

Your first trip of a single day won't give you the slightest chance to understand the area, and what it is-and isn't.

I'd just do the basic, tourist stuff.
Come back later for the first indepth exploratory.

My advice.

If your wife likes to shop, DRIVE her down King Street...DON'T let her walk down King Street or your day will be shot!!!

Otherwise I'd suggest walking through the market and taking a carriage tour. Take a few minutes and drive the streets south of Broad Street toward the battery.
