Berkeley Middle until the middle school is built on Cane Bay. I believe it's going to be built beside the new elementary school.

I'll let you see for yourself. Majority of the children that go to this school are from low-income families and most have not made education an important part of their lives. The alternative is St John's Christian Academy.

The Berkeley County School Board released the final draft of the new lines drawn for Cane Bay Schools. If you will go to my blog, www.journeytocanebay.com you can read the entire article and see what schools are going to be affected. I truly believe that there is going to be a great mix of income levels.

You can go here Berkeley County School District and see all the attendance areas. The board has land for the middle school directly beside the elementary school under construction and scheduled to open next school year. We have no funding at this time to build the Middle School. If you live in Cane Bay, Berkeley Middle is the assigned school. FYI Berkeley Middle has a new principal this year and she is making great progress in the student outcomes. If your concerned I suggest visiting during the school day and see for yourself.

Visit the school, try to talk to parents in the neighbourhood. Sometimes schools that aren't ranked as the best are still good schools. Also Berkley county is growing. Is Cane Bay a big enough development to have a positive influence on the schools. All you need sometimes is a handful of dedicated parent volunteers to help the school improve.

I have lived in areas where the middle and high school were not considered the best. Too many low income kids and diversity BUT...the schools were amazing. They were the best kept secrets in the county. I moved to a school district that was ranked a bit better and it was okay -- but the other school system was so much better.

It's hard to know until you get kids in the school.

I'm curious about the schools for James Island. I so love that area -- and Johns Island too. It is so nice out there.......

Anybody have first hand knowledge about those schools.

If you live in Cane Bay Plantation the middle school is Berkeley in Moncks Corner. Right now we don't have funding to build the proposed middle school. We have selected an architect and plans are being drawn but until we have the funds we can't build.
