I have never been a Republican even though my family has been here for many generations. I voted Democrat this year and voted for Obama.
I think he is going to make a great President.

The administration didn't fail, the Republicans and Democrats in Congress both failed.
Congress' approval rating was lower than the presidents and yet we sent over 90% of them back.
The House controls the purse strings and the Senate has a lot of legislative power, the President has NONE.
All the president can do is either approve or veto legislation; he didn't do a lot of the latter.
This is one of the main reasons that we are in the predicament we are in now.
So endith the civics lesson.

I tried to like Barack and I do not hate the man, I just could not vote for him. I have a hard time trusting a person if he/she can not be honest with me, he would not release his college transcripts, his birth certificate and 80% of the time, he could not make up his mind to vote yes or no on subject.
94 times he had the opportunity while being an elected official to either not to raise taxes or to lower them and 94 times he voted to raise, or keep higher taxes. He has known foreign and domestic friends who are terrorists. They say you can tell a man by the company he keeps.
Also, I am the first in my family to ever go to college; I have a Masters degree and a very successful engineer. I am not rich but I do make 6 figures and I worked very hard to get where I am at and I'll be damned if I have to give up more money for those that do not want to work for it.
For the record, I am of mixed race and a part of me wanted to vote for Barack for race but thank GOD I had enough sense to stick with my research.
Voting is very important but I think an uniformed voter is a dangerous person and I believe we just found this out.
For those that say "well we are in this mess because of Bush" I say do your research and you'll see Congress and the Dems played a much larger role in this then they would have you believe.
You know, in the 1800's to call someone a Democrat was fighting words because a Democrat is someone who panders to the whims of the masses. We have seen this again in this election. I just hope America can survive the next four years. By the way, Martin Luther King was a Republican.
I know this is a long read but I can go on and on about this and I will say this, Michelle Obama said it and I'll say it too but with a Twist;
"For the first time in my adult life, I an NOT proud of my country"
It really is sad that I would even say this because of all the opportunities I have had. I am a proud combat veteran, serving 8 years in the U.S. Army.
Joanie55 wrote: "...When 911 happened under his watch it truly scared me." well, it really scared me that under Clinton's "watch", the World Trade Center was bombed, we had Osama and let him go, the USS Cole was attacked, two embassies were bombed and oh yea, let's not forget the Somalia fiasco either. Talk about scary.........Ohhhhh, gives me the heebie-jeebies just thinking about it.
GOD bless you all and remember, look to the candidates past and then make the decision, and put aside party, race, gender, etc. and vote.

thank you, michaelbc. i'm of mixed race too, did my research and did not vote for obama. i mention it, because it seems that people of color are supposed to vote a certain way. but this election-- to me-- transcended race from the get go but the card was played time and time and time again. i guess there was just no way around it. do i hope obama does well in his presidency? of course. i hope he puts my fears at ease. what will happen when certain issues can't/won't get the attention that they need? because hey! it was just a campaign promise anyway and they're usually broken. will he get backlash then? or will folks make excuses for him. people, put the obama juice down and step away from the sandbox and really, truly look at the issues. i didn't particularly care for bush, but he wasn't the main and only cause of our troubles. personally, i would love to see a third party really make an impact on the scene and tell both the dems and GOP to go on a 'time out.'

You know, I don't really disagree with you. I have always thought it was so limited for us to be locked into a two-party system. I think the problem is the other parties don't have the money to advertise and let their platforms and beliefs be known. And I won't pretend to know how to rectify that. Unfortunately, it all comes down to money. I watched something on I believe was 60 minutes about people running for "small" offices that couldn't compete because they didn't have the funds. And the government "rules" fill football fields on what people can do when running. They said it was designed for people who already knew the ropes and had the funds. It's a shame. I don't know how we get around it.

Rep points to you, Michael! Bush walked into the mess Clinton left behind, including 911, which was already in the makings - Bush had nothing to do with it. Bush made mistakes, but didn't have a lot of control with a majority Democratic Congress calling all the shots. It will only get worse now.....mark my words.

Way to have a possitive attitude! Isn't there enough negativity on the news?

The negativity started with Obama getting voted into office. Can't get real excited about it somehow.

WE have survived bad presidents before, lets hope this one isn't too bad.
Lets not get depressed before he even takes office.
Who knows he may be a closet conservative.....
ROFLMAO......
