Just Released 2008 Charleston Area High School Assessment Program Test Scores.
The South Carolina Department of Education just released “state exit exam scores” for High schools throughout the state. South Carolina public high school students must pass an exit exam that tests English and math to receive a diploma. Students take the test for the first time during their second year of high school, and those who fail can retake the parts they did not pass. High schools' performance on the exam are factored into state report card ratings and federal Adequate Yearly Progress ratings.
The percentage of students who passed both sections on the first attempt in Charleston and Dorchester Counties 2 and 4 as well as three of the high schools frequently mentioned on this forum are as follows:
Charleston County – 80.5%
Dorchester 2 – 86.1%
Dorchester 4 – 64%
Summerville HS – 85.9%
Ft. Dorchester HS – 86.3%
Wando HS – 93.5%
