Default Cheapest area to rent in Charleston?

I'm a college student about to graduate in December. I want to take 6 mos. off and live somewhere fun, like Charleston, while I work at a bar and study for the CFA exam in June. What part of charleston am I going to find the cheapest rent. Let's make it within a cheap cab ride from downtown.

Also, if I tried to rent an apartment/condo downtown, what could I expect to pay per month?

Thanks!

You can start by looking on criagslist to get an idea of what you are going to pay. Also you can look at apartment finder and see what is there.
