Well....you don't have to get "chippy" about it....

.....
I'm sure you are aware when you reply to someone's post in a condensing tone....it's hard for someone not to respond in the same manner so I suggest that unless you enjoy negative interactions, you may want to reconsider how you choose to reply to people on this forum.

I will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume when you responded you were having a bad day......
I'm not from Nova Scotia. I'm from New Brunswick and I had a very valid question. I'm sorry if you took offense to my "lightheartedness".
I must say though....I really think some people need to "lighten" up when replying to posts on this forum. This is not a chat room for people to "grip" and insult each other.
There are forums for that...and I don't go on them for a reason.
I don't have the time or energy to "argue" or "bicker" with faceless, nameless people. (Now...if I'm sounding a little "chippy" it's probably because....I am.....now that you have set that tone.)
I normally don't speak to people in the disrespectful manner in which you responded to me and I don't appreciate anyone doing it to me.
Feel free to review my posts for the past 1 1/2 years and you will see, even when there are differences of opinions, I have never deliberately disrespected someone the way you just did to me.
I come on here because this is a site called CITY DATA....where people come to ask questions, and I hardly think mine was ridiculous.
Now.......
Going back to my original question.....I was not blaming anything on my Canadian roots. I'm actually proud to be a Canadian. I was disclosing the fact that I am
not familiar with American Real Estate terms (like auctioneer)......
because I am a Canadian.
I'm sure there are foreclosures in Canada as well....BUT I've NEVER met one person in Canada I know that has ever gone through it....nor purchased a foreclosed home.
It doesn't mean it doesn't happen but this doesn't appear to be as big of an issue in Canada right now. (at least not in New Brunswick) That will probably change with the economy in the condition it's in.
In reality....most people I know back in NB already own their home because it's a pretty "modest" lifestyle there. No "Daniel Island" type communities anywhere to be found! In fact, they tease me about living on a "resort" and say I'll probably get spoiled and never want to move back there.

........AND before you "chew me out" over that statement........I KNOW how blessed we are to have places like this to live and to have what I have when many people are losing their homes and jobs. I fully appreciate it!! I was brought up by a single mother in low-income housing. I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth.
I believe the reason foreclosures aren't as big of an issue in NB is because the average home price is about $200,000 so they don't have as large of a payment and foreclosure isn't as much of a concern. Also, they have a national health care plan and social assistance programs that provide some financial assistance to people who are in need.
The reason I was asking is...because I am interested in learning more about the foreclosure process and how it works here in the USA. We are in the process of deciding if we want to purchase a home or keep renting until the economy starts to recover.
For the record....I never claimed to know ANYTHING about the foreclosure process in either country....(the sheriff thing???? How would I know that?)
Anyhow....sorry to anyone else who had to listen to this exchange...and to my replier....(it seems to me you were "chippy" with me on another post now that I think about it? Aren't you the one from Toronto?)
I hope you have a nice evening.
I was having a pretty good one....until I read your response.

Cheers!
