IOPBaby, I don't remember anything about an old creepy house in MtP. I grew up on James Island so MtP was like in another world for me! For me, I used to think the old
Atlantic House on Folly was haunted, back before it was turned into a restaurant.

I don't remember a creepy house in Mt. Pleasant, but my family remembers when Trident Technical College was only that one campus in North Charleston, and there were maybe five buildings there. Now, there's four campuses, I believe, and the North Charleston campus is larger than lots of colleges.

balderdash1, I remember The Port & Magnolia Drive-Ins (there were several others as well), and Lord Ashley Motel but not the others. Do you remember The Brick? Big John's? Dino's? The Colony House?

ZUMAN, no it was where Hardee's is on crosstown. We went there alot in highschool; they had a little stage and a back room with a pool table (maybe more, don't remember). Later, they took that out. The bar was in the back half. Afterwards, we ate lunch there alot when I worked in town, and it was a popular place to party. The food was great, though. Fresh rolls for the sandwiches, vegees, salads with homemade blue cheese dressing (the best anywhere) and pizza! A guy named Mike owned it and had one in N Chuck near the railroad station.

Oh yeah, thanks - I remember Dino's now, both locations. I remember going to Dino's downtown in HS too. I had forgot all about that place!

all the above...
the "Charleston Skateboard Park" was owned by Bob Walsh... later known by many on the tv used car lot commercials as the "Man with the Hat", had the car lot on Dorchester and Montague several yrs back
I was good friends with his son Robby back in the 70's
that park "burned down" somehow ... lol ... used to skate there, and played a lot of foozeball...
the Colony House is the place that started our cities famous She Crab soup back in the day... Mike Papus was the best cook in the lowcountry back then, Mike Altine hired Papus in almost every restaraunt he owned for years to follow...

Didn't the Colony House also have a wonderful, "secret recipe" cheese spread? Or was that another downtown restaurant? Did Mike Papus own Pier 61? And the name Altine sounds reeeal familiar - does he have any kids "our" age?
