Other memories:

- I remember when the Carolina First at Folly and Harbor View was a Backstage Deli, and before that, it was a Grandy's.
- PoFolks on Savannah Highway (where the car wash is now)
- Nothing on N. Rhett between Yeamans Hall and Red Bank, a huge distance.
- Channel 5 being locally owned by the Rivers, with WCSC radio at 1390
- I-26 was two lanes in each direction past 52
- WOKE radio on Sam Rittenberg Blvd.
- Everybody in Dorchester 2 going to Summerville High
- The Stingrays were getting 8-9,000 a night (even on weekdays)
- The College of Charleston was a small D-I school, and before that they were in the NAIA playing teams like Limestone
- The Cougars baseball team playing at makeshift Remley's Point

I Wanted to add some "REMEMBERIES" I REMEMBER WHEN. I remember when North Rhett was a dirt road.
When the Piggy Park was the only place in the area to go out to eat. (Gas Light Square now)
When North Rhett was bscked uo all the way to Red Bank Rd. (Navy traffic)
When Charles Towne Square was the place to go for christmas shopping
When Goose Creek High was also an elementary school!

No kidding. It seems like every time you turn on the tv there has been one. Over the weekend a restaurant in Mt P was robbed and on Monday Massage Envy in S'Ville was robbed and the employee was hurt. I guess this is going to be a normal happening with people losing their jobs.

Charles Towne Square was also THE PLACE to get your child's picture taken with Santa and to go for a train ride through the mall. Four of my son's Santa pics. were taken there...and he had to go on that little train ride several times each season!

meks will become famous soon enoughmeks will become famous soon enough
S'Ville was way out of town...
Johns Island was all farm land and everyone had livestock running free in their yards...
Lawton Bluff's roads were almost all dirt, and the other Bluff's didn't exist...
Our first MALL was built next to JM Fields - Ashley Plaza Mall...
Downtown Charleston ended at the Ashley River Bridge and Mt.P ended shortly after the old town area...
Loved the old drive thru's, and those Pinehaven theaters...
Howies Hideout on 17S was the place to be...
We kept all our windows and doors open ALL NIGHT, no one EVER stole anything except a mischief kid here n there who always got caught...
There was a couple more streets on Folly beach, and another whole island way down to the right well past where the park is now...
VP Ford came to visit and my sis got his autograph right after he walked down all the STAIRS that they used to roll up to you at the old airport so you could get off of a plane...
To get to MtP from Charleston there was only one two lane bridge, those too scared to use it went the long way down old hwy52 n 41...
Old52 used to be the main artery in and out until they finished I-26...
There was no 526, not even a thought... that area was wooded all the way S'Ville and we had several forts all through it...
The only Gators were in the Goose Creek reservoir...
52, DorchRd, BeesferryRd and many others were all one lane roads with much of Beesferry being dirt...
James Is had one elementary school, then came two - JamesIs and Stiles Point...
WA had one High School, St.Andrews on Wappoo
Kiawah Island was a wasteland

I too could go on and on and on... times and people were definetly different back then
