For some reason, I can remember the Hardee's inside Marion Square as a child. I used to love that place. Wasn’t there a carousel at Charlestowne Square? Someone help me out. I remember when the King Street Palace was a functioning venue for concerts, wrestling events, etc. I remember when Greyhound had a terminal downtown on King. I remember when Foot Locker used to be on King, next to the “Omni”. I remember when the Wappoo Bridge was the only way to James Island, and the connector was not an option. I also remember the traffic jam it used to create when it opened. I remember when Channel 5 used to be on East Bay and when Charlie Hall was the weatherman. I remember when the Main Branch of the library used to be on King, across from Marion Square. I remember the club Mingles on Highway 61, lol. Also, I remember Alice's on King, the best macaroni and cheese and seafood you'll ever have-among other things-! Oh yeah, what about the Quincy's that used to be on Spring Street, right before the bridge.

- Channel 5 being locally owned by the Rivers, with WCSC radio at 1390
- I-26 was two lanes in each direction past 52
- WOKE radio on Sam Rittenberg Blvd.
- Everybody in Dorchester 2 going to Summerville High

Grandy's on Hwy 7, lol. Yes, my dad used to stop there every morning for breakfast on the way to work.

I used to service Charlie Hall's MGB at Norman's Shell Station on hwy17S back in the 70's ... that was one of our old full service service stations
I believe that lot is a Mexican restaurant or something now, on the corner of farmfield n 17 I believe
The Giallard downtown on Calhoun was where wrestling was held...
I remember when they built CharlesTown Mall, never thought it'd make it because of the surrounding neighborhoods... still to this day nothing does too well in that area
1250 WTMA AM used to be the best radio station in the city, especially after WolfManJack joined them... lol

I can just feel the vibration now.... That 2-lane bridge always gave me goosebumps going over it - esp. when it would sway during the bridge run!

Does anyone remember Clay's Lounge on Savannah Hwy? It was located between the fire station and the old Rodenburgs grocery store. Not sure when it closed but I used to hang out there in the early '70s.

over there across from KrispyCreme? yepp, went there many a time too...
I think Clay got thrown in jail many yrs ago and had to sell the place, talkin about a rowdy places... ahhh the good times... lol
the bridges? remember when they first opened the new one and there were several really bad accidents because people couldn't figure out the reversible lane? they would have it going one way all day except during rush hours, when they'd reverse it... some people couldn't grasp it and would go the wrong way
they shut that extra lane down completely for a long time and tried it again... eventually giving up on it and making it a permanent reversed lane
and of course you should remember that luxury condo underneath them... the old jail... lol

Try being stuck for two hours on the Grace because it was flooded at the bottom on the Charleston side. Talk about swaying!!! That was in the early 1980's too.
