Default Suggestions on IT jobs in Charleston

Hi Everyone, Happy New Year! My fiance and I just moved to Johns Island in October from VA. We are absolutely loving it, but there is one problem...he is unable to find a job. I luckily work as a project manager from home. He is a very experienced IT technician/system engineer and has applied to jobs at MUSC (hiring freeze now) and Blackbaud (always has jobs but never hires anyone). It seems as though he has exhausted all job websites (Monster, Charlestonjobmarket, craigslist). As you can imagine it is very frustrating living here for 3 months and not finding any employment. I was just wondering if any one could suggest another avenue to pursue as far as job listings in the Charleston area. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Nearly all larger companies in the area should have a need for IT techs, it's just getting that foot in the door. Let me see if I can get you our IT manager to speak with about local opportunities.

Hi,
I'm possibly about to be in a similar situation. I currently work as a Unix Sysadmin in Los Angeles, Ca. I'm considering a move to the Charleston area to be closer to my kids, who live in mt. pleasant. I've always browsed IT jobs in the area, and currently even posted something on the local Craigslist a post similar to yours.
I'm getting layed off in March, and so I've been looking heavily recently. There doesn't seem to be a lot of work, other than jobs that require security clearance (probably military work). The -one- promising lead is the new google datacenter in Monks Corner. They're not hiring Linux admins right now, but they may be in the future. I'm keeping my eyes open, as that would be the ideal position for me. What exactly does your fiance do? What kind of experience does he have?
