CSU vs Citadel MBA programs
I have begun researching the MBA programs at Charleston Southern and the Citadel. I was hoping others with experience at either school could provide some insight.
Thanks!

I actually just started my first semester at CSU, working on my MBA. I have a friend down here that has his MBA from The Citadel and he was impressed with me getting into CSU. I think either would be a good choice, though.

Both are great programs, The Citadel carries a little more clout though.

Check accreditation. AACSB is the highest accreditation business schools can have. The Citadel is accredited, CSU is not. I hear the CSU is a great program so I was surprised that is does not hold this accreditation.

Also consider the University of South Carolina's PMBA program. They have a satellite class location on Sam Rittenburg.

CSU's MBA is way better than the Citadel. I have a couple of my colleagues' transferred to CSU from the Citadel and they said they learned more insofar as learning through an academec real-world arena. Which they carried through their success in their carreers, its more than just "hitting" the books...
Furthermore, The Charlotte Business Journal listed in its March 13 edition the Top 25 MBA programs in the Carolinas according to enrollment numbers. Charleston Southern ranked number 10 in the top 25, up one from the previous year.
Charleston Southern University's MBA program is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (sacscoc.org). In addition, the University's MBA program is accredited by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (iacbe.org).

I started an MBA program at CSU and ended up withdrawing for work reasons.
Since my undergrad degree was not a business related I had to take some pre requisites which is where the not so good experiences happened.
Firstly we had a class assignment to memorize bible verses which counted to part of your grade, so every class we needed to have a new bible verse. I didn't mind that per se since it's an easy thing to do, but it just struck me as odd.
Secondly, this class was a face to face one, and the teacher was not sympathetic to the fact that I had a job that sometimes required me to miss class. At the end of the day, my employer was the one paying for my MBA, so that was where my loyalties were. Plus you know, I like being employed.
I am not saying that CSU is a bad school- it just was not the fit for me.

Since this thread is the top web page for the “citadel mba” query on Google, I think some clarification is in order. I am an executive search recruiter who fills C-level positions for a living. It is well known that getting an MBA from a school that is not AACSB accredited is tantamount to a waste of time.
Maybe your grandmother who never went to college is going to be impressed by your CSU “MBA,” but people that matter will not be. If you live in Charleston then The Citadel and USC’s PMBA are the only real options.
