straight from the local news and the PC paper, there's been several... do a search at charleston.net in the archives, you'll see several incidents
or you can probably call CCSO or NCPD and ask them

Also, Northwoods Mall also has some crime problems, with everyone coming from 50 miles out to visit. Some horrible things have happened there since the early 1990s. A major example was the time, back in 1995, when a homeless woman stabbed two children getting their pictures with the Easter Bunny.
Children stabbed in mall
Even Citadel Mall has some problems (several shootings in the last few years), but it is better than Northwoods. We only go there to visit the JCPenney, and when they hold their Law Enforcement Day every September. We used to have to go to Northwoods often, to go to the shops around that area.
I've seen some things around Tanger (lots of arrests), but it is a safe area, with lots to do there. That really helped the Coliseum area, as there was nothing around the Coliseum/Convention Center area until that was built, and now it's one of the booming areas of town, just like Towne Centre.

That happened very close to were I was working. They were walking in the mall and the Easter bunny was in center court. The little girl was in the stroller. She is the daughter of the owner's of Money Man Pawn shop. That woman was crazy and there are many more around and could be anywhere so you can't blame that on Northwoods Mall.

I have seen news reports from both Northwoods and Citadel malls about crime but none about the Tanger outlet center yet.
Meks please post what you found.

I've heard crime stories from most malls in the places I have lived and visited. Charleston is not immune.

I wouldn't say it is any worse than other places in the country. Coming from NY and NJ, I don't feel any less "safe" in North Charleston than I did in NYC or Newark.
