Hi,
Me and my family are planning to move to SC in 2 years. My daughter wants to attend a college in Charleston. What are the best "family towns" to live in? We don't want to live in a big city, but not way out where there's nothing. I heard Goose Creek isn't bad.....I also heard Georgetown is a great place. Even though Georgetown would be a further commute it would be worth the trade off if it was as nice as we've heard. We want a nice safe area with good people. Are there really a lot of snakes and bugs everyhwere in SC?

Yes we have snakes and bugs.

Georgetown is about an hour and a half north of Charleston, without traffic.

Summerville is nice and growing fast.

Goose Creek is close in to town and also growing fast

I am not sure what you consider a big town. But I don't believe any of are areas are big. What price range are you wanting to stay within? This determines a lot.
How old are your children? You may want to begin your search by researching schools. Try www.greatschools.net.
I agree with the above poster about Mount Pleasant and Summerville for a great family area. Mount Pleasant is closer to the beach and downtown..more expensive. Summerville is less expensive but further from beach and historic Charleston.
