landscaper coming down
I am looking at South Carolina for a possible move in the future. I would be looking to run a landscaping business wherever I end up. How is the Charleston area for a landscaping? Is there alot of homes that need to be maintained?(mowing, trimming) How about renovating older landscapes, or new construction? Just looking for some local input? Thanks

Correct..and I would also imagine in the current economic climate that many are looking at lawncare as an "unneeded luxury".

There's a huge landscape company called, Pleasant something "Acres" (I think)...They seem to have trucks galore and tons of employees doing their commercial work, ie: HOA's...Don't know how large your company is or will be, or if just independent...But if you could out bid some of there work, you may be in good shape. Just a thought...

I think you will find customers as their is always a need for that type of service, even though a lot of people are tightening what they spend in todays economy. I am moving down from michigan to summerville on saturday the 14th after 3 years of planning and finally selling my house here in Michigan. I will be opening a window cleaning business, so i will be in the same boat as you, although i believe that window cleaning is definately a luxury and not a necessity. Through my research, i have found that when things are tight with most people, there are always those who are still doing well and spending money, it just doesnt make the news like the negative stuff does. Here in michigan we are being hit probrably more than any other state ( auto industry ) and my window cleaning company here has enjoyed substantial growth in recent years. As long as you do good work, show up when you say you will, and live within your means, you should do ok.
