Question Edisto...Thoughts?...Places to stay?...Suggestions

I want to book a trip to Edisto for the wifey and I in September. Its our 10th year Anniv, we want a small escape and with so many uncertanties I think Edisto may be the place to go.

Anyone been? Can you recommend places to stay, things to do?

Thanks...

Edisto is kind of out there, not alot to do other than the beach.

Lots of rental property to stay.

I think you need to find a rental property as mentioned in the previous post. Edisto is isolated, and that's what I like so much about it.

And that's what were looking for, an escape. I dallied around the chambers site, thx OTC. But does anyone have any personal experiences. Places to avoid? Its so hard to tell what a rental will "really" look like, the Internet sometimes doesn't do it justice...I don't want to end up in a pet smellin infested dump, if ya know what i mean

The other alternative is the State Park if you want to rent an RV. Been out there several years for the Governor's Cup. Don't remember too many details...

I don't usually stay down there, just drive down for the day and then back home, but I have looked around at some of the rentals, most are very nice atleast 3 to 5 stars.

For a weekend getaway, Edisto is my favorite beach around because it is away from it all. I would look online at cabins and beach houses then, if possible, go down and check them out before renting. One friend of mine from NC found one online, it looked great, then when they come down to stay there, it smelled so musty and moldy that they couldn't hardly sleep there. They couldn't get their money back, so just kept windows opened and sprayed lots of air freshener. I have a friend at school whose family owns a beach house on Edisto but I don't know if they rent it out or not...even if not, I'm sure they may have a good recommendation for a rental. I'll try to remember to ask tomorrow...

Ha Ha Ha. Tom, that's what makes us all so scary here. I've been accused of being a wealth of useless information.

Keep in mind PP, the only alcohol rule on the beach at Edisto is, you must keep it cold... and no glass on the beach. Ahh, the last bastion of beachfront freedom...

This is news to me, I thought all of them were alcohol free.
