I can't say for sure about their meats - but they have a lot of organic products, so it wouldn't surprise me that they also have meats too, I just don't notice - sorry.
They also have their own brand Kirkland, and we find it's a good quality, from dog food, to make-up, to organic animal crackers (I bought them for my Daycare) to shampoo.
The other thing they started to do, is when buying boneless chicken breasts or thighs, you're buying in bulk, but they now package them so you don't have to open the large pack and break them down into individual freezer portions - they pack them in smaller sealed packs that tear apart - very convenient.
Can you tell we like Costco! Oh - and you can return just about anything at anytime - they did change this on electronics, as people were keeping computers for a couple of years, when they were outdated -they would return them for a full refund - they had to put a limited return policy on electronics. BUT if you buy a product and don't like it for whatever reason - you'll get a full refund. They're not only customer driven, but from what has been on TV, they treat their employees very well also.

Thanks! I may have to check it out. I've just never needed to purchase items in bulk. That is very convenient about the chicken.

I have several favorites, as my favorite one to go into is Whole Foods. They have a great selection, and the cheese department is one of the best in the state.
They also have a great pizza bar, and people drive there from 30-50 miles away just to get their organic foods.
Harris Teeter is also good, but they have fewer stores here, and sometimes, the prices are high.
Bi-Lo on James Island is a great store, just opened a few months ago, and they have a large selection of almost any item you want to get. Publix is very good also, with a good pharmacy, deli/bakery (always people there at any time), and their stores are larger than the competition.
Piggly Wiggly is pretty good, as their stores on James Island, Mt. Pleasant, and the Newton Farms on Kiawah are all nice, but the prices are some of the highest of any supermarket. They are locally-owned, which is a plus.
Avoid Food Lion if you can. Food Lion has some nice stores (out in Mt. Pleasant and in areas where they are the only store), but their stores on James Island and in West Ashley are the worst of the chains here.
There's always a smell when you go in, and they are usually dirty there, with slow service. There are some good ones in North Charleston and Summerville, but not on the barrier islands.

I found the Piggly Wiggly in Mount Pleasant outrageously expensive for meat, fish and poultry. It would be well worth the drive to Costco.
I saw the same documentary about grocery stores - years ago....and will never shop at a Food Lion

That's the Jersey in ya, Tom! Food Tiger usually has the best beer prices.
Is there another reason to shop? Oh yeah, steaks! That would be Bi-Lo.

As a returning (after 15 or so years) 'green card' South Carolinian, I'm totally impressed by BI-LO and Food Lion. In the upstate, my previous location, Ingles ROCKS. Whole Foods is great, but you can't find them everywhere, and Shoney's does some great, cheap salad bars.

The 2 best grocery chains imo are Harris Teeter and Publix...my grandparents live in Seaside Farms, and are very close to that Piggly Wiggly, but it is very expensive so they always drive over to the Publix on Coleman. Up here Harris Teeter is the best of the chains, and no, I'd never step foot in a Super Walmart or Food Lion.
