Yes lots of Hockey, we even have an ECHL team.
DD2 (Dorchester District 2) are generally the better schools in this area.
Crime is relatively low.
Developement has pretty much slowed down for now, lots of inventory out there though.

Gracie - I see one area was Canebay...We've been living there since 10/07 and love it! The schools are brand new and beautiful. I also play hockey, been so for 30 yrs (yikes) ... We can carpool
Only drawback and this will change "soon", is we are waiting for the grocery store "publix" to be built inside the subdivision. Right now we have to travel roughly 10 miles...

I'm very excited I will be going down to Hilton head on vacation in June and plan on driving up to check out the area. I can't wait to see Cane Bay I hope it is a nice as it seems on the web. How is the Hanahan area it seems very affortable. Can anyone advise on how many hospitals are in the area. My wife is a nurse and will be looking for work.
I'm happy there is hockey. Can't live without it lol.

There are three major Hospital systems in Charleston: Roper, Trident and MUSC
Each of these has several branch facilities all over the low country.

Hilton Head area/Summerville
Hi! I have lived in both Beaufort (near HH) and worked in Bluffton and now live in Summerville. It seems that the Bluffton area is growing very quickly but keep in mind that does also mean a LOT of traffic. They have been building another highway that will eventually span from 278 to the end of Bluffton just before heading over to the island but for now the traffic is fairly heavy - all day, all seasons. It does offer a lot as far as big box stores, pretty area, etc. but there is no hockey team there and while it is a growing area, it is also a little remote. Depending on where you are in Bluffton, Savannah can be up to an hour (or even more) away.
Summerville is a little more spread out than Bluffton with not just one major road to get you from one side to the other so the traffic isn't as bad. It also has a lot of convenient big box stores either in town or nearby in north Chas. at the northwoods mall or on Rivers Ave. in general. Schools here are considered very good and were not as highly regarded in Bluffton (not that they are bad there, just really good here). Also, it's a little easier to get into Charleston to do things from Summerville. So, overall I do believe Summerville to be the better pick between the two. With that being said, Bluffton is not a bad choice and if I had to move back to that area, I would not be unhappy with it. Both have their plus sides. I'd be happy to answer more questions if you've got them.

Ms Raven, what part of NJ are you moving from?
I moved here from NJ almost 20 years ago, via upstate NY and Orlando.
As I am still familiar with alot of the areas up there, most of my very large family still lives there, I may be able to shed a little light on what others are calling dangerous....
