Never forget that.

That's quite the stretch you're making. How about some proof?

Good point.

They had been prevented from traveling off of their immediate surroundings, and had seen their children sold, never to be returned.

The litmus test is in the face of that kind of oppression just how many did have the guts to leave.

I did. Absolutely no mention of slavery. No mention of "human property". As far as I can tell, it makes mention of the land they toiled upon (not toiling slaves).

The chief and immediate cause of the war was slavery. Southern states, including the 11 states that formed the Confederacy, depended on slavery to support their economy. Southerners used slave labor to produce crops, especially cotton. Although slavery was illegal in the Northern states, only a small proportion of Northerners actively opposed it. The main debate between the North and the South on the eve of the war was whether slavery should be permitted in the Western territories recently acquired during the Mexican War (1846-1848), including New Mexico, part of California, and Utah. Opponents of slavery were concerned about its expansion, in part because they did not want to compete against slave labor.]
Slavery was a major cause, but not the ONLY cause of the Civil War.

I can't argue with one who does not wish to know the truth. Suffice to say that the "'property" mentioned is precisely what one would suppose it is.

The first paragraph of the Declaration of Secession references "Slaveholding States".

The people of the State of South Carolina, in Convention assembled, on the 26th day of April, A.D., 1852, declared that the frequent violations of the Constitution of the United States, by the Federal Government, and its encroachments upon the reserved rights of the States, fully justified this State in then withdrawing from the Federal Union; but in deference to the opinions and wishes of the other slaveholding States, she forbore at that time to exercise this right. Since that time, these encroachments have continued to increase, and further forbearance ceases to be a virtue.

Declaration of Causes of Secession

It should also be noted that the Confederate Battle Flag did not fly over the SC State House until the middle of the civil rights era in 1962. IMO, this shows the intent.

I'm so tired of hearing people talk about "heritage" in defense of that flag.

This is the flag that was carried by a confederation of people who believed slavery was righteous and just.

That flag was representative of a "nation" whose ideals and beliefs were not in the best interest of all it's citizens.

It was flown by those whose believed in, supported, and engaged in American terrorism ala the KKK.

It was flown by those who believed in, supported, and engaged in government sanctioned oppression of an entire race ala Jim Crow laws.

It was flown by those who believed in, supported, and engaged in the murder of innocent men, women, and children.

Today that same flag is flown by those who take pride in that same "heritage" that it represents and yet somehow they've managed to dillute themselves into thinking that the people who oppose what that sh*t rag represents are the real hatemongers.

Comedy at it's finest.

And for the record I can care less about the flag and whether or not people choose to fly it. Just don't come at me with that heritage BS. People who fly it do so out of defiance in the face of those who oppose what it represents.

Again, one cannot "suffice" unless they know. You've yet to prove it.
