Pulte and Centex
Just read that Pulte and Centex are merging which will make the new company the largest homebuilders in the country. Principals from both companies say that the merge is necessary in order to withstand the current slowdown in new home construction. I know that both Pulte and Centex are major builders in Cane Bay and I was just wondering if anybody has any thoughts on this merge. Do you think the merge will have any impact on the area or prospective homebuyers?

I just heard on the news this morning. Was really surprised. We, at Del Webb, seem to be picking up business...sold 18 houses in March and they seem to be very busy. Houses at Rice Retreat seem to be coming up also. I assume the merger is a good thing, but I don't know much about them. All I can say, we are pretty happy here.

Anyone have a link to it?? I can't see how it will hurt either of them. Gonna be like Wal-Mart now, one big giant...

I don't think it will have any effect on those of you who already own Pulte or Centex homes. My problem with the merge is that it creates one big super builder and erases the competition between the two. Lack of real competition is never a good thing, no matter what business we're talking about. I'm worried about future buyers(ME!). I can only hope that the quality continues to be excellent and the prices reasonable.

According to the article, only people who will be effected are the one's relocating from Long Island, everyone else will be fine
No worries NOMO - They both build quality homes, I think it will be a + for you

I was in Hamlin last week end -- a few homes there have sold as well.
