Default Really what is there to do in Mt Pleasant ?

Apart from going to the beach ?. What does it offer to do that any surrounding town doesn't already offer ?.

I read on here that the homes are vastly over priced , 17 is a parking lot, most neighborhoods are cookie cutter .

So what is the big attraction ?

Just read a post where someone stated there is lots to do there .

Patriots Point
Boone Hall
Charles Pickney
Town center
Palmetto Park
Blackbeards cove
Oakland Plantation
Farmers Market
Many golf courses and access to water

That's to mention a few things plus as you said the beach in minutes away and then you have
Ft Moultre, Lighthouse. And Historic downtown is minutes away also with much more to do.

Convenience to all kinds of shopping. It is set up for families -- schools, activities, etc. 10-15 minutes from the beach. You can live off of Rifle Range and never use 17.

I think that Summerville is a wonderful town. It has all the amenities that a family could need -- except it is further from the beach and driving into town -- worse than driving into town from MP.

I love the proximity to the water. It's what I have always wanted. I grew up in Bermuda and always wanted to be close to the ocean. MP fits that bill for me.

I live in Mount Pleasant and have for 5 years. I go shopping, go to Boone Hall's various festivals(strawberry, halloween, oyster, roasts, etc), I go to Palmetto Island Park with my children and do the community things that area always going on. I have lived all over the country and I like this area a lot.

I have never gone to Patriots Point..not really interested in that. But I have been to party at the point it's fun. But I have been to everything else I listed during my 5 years here.

You can do the same things in MtP as you can do in any small town across the US.

Most homes in this area (outside of MtP) are vastly overpriced in my opinion. What major road around Charleston isn't a parking lot at peak hours? And what new neighborhood isn't "cookie cutter" regardless where it's located?

When we were looking at MtP during our house hunt, we liked the proximity to the beach. Then I saw how much house you get for your money compared to other nearby towns, plus the extra cost of insurance, and we bought in Summerville. I can cope with a 33 minute drive to the beach (clocked it on Sunday) - it is only 15 minutes more than if we moved out to Dunes West anyway, not a huge deal. Traffic is a non-issue if you are an early-bird, fortunately for us.

The shopping is ok, I just prefer the outlets.
