Default which subdivision didyou like best

Whiel visiting through Mt. Pleasant,w hich subdivision did you feel more at home with? I have spent the last 20 minutes readingyoru thread and it is like a show-I am dying to know where you'll end up

We are in northern virginia and will be moving in teh next 6 months to Mt. Pleasant-but trying to figure out where--Did you like hamlin Plantation at all? I am leaning towards it as it doesn't seem quite so brand new but has a lot to offer.

plus on other silly question--did you notice a lot of bugs I keep hearing about plametto bugs in bathtubs and sinks and I think I would freak out if they are everywhere--tahnsk for your time and good luck to you!

Unfortunately, palmetto bugs are everywhere here. I think it is the exception rather than the norm to not have seen one here. Cockroaches get stigmatized (won't anyone think of the poor cockroaches??) up north because they are often associated with filthy conditions. But, you can get palmetto bugs (basically a large cockroach) in your house even if you are OCD about cleaning.

Default Hi back

As I think I posted upon my return... though possibly not as you read my posts and I guess did not see my comments on various communities there... I will comment here.

Drove through almost every subdivision/community while there back in June. Even ones where I knew I had no interest i.e. older areas... Old Village etc. I drove through.. because after all... seeing is believing.

All in all... I liked parts of:
* Park West (surprised me as I thought it would be Stepford Wives through others descriptions)
* Brickyard (if I can find a non-brick house because the brick homes I saw did not have front porches where we desire and will not budge. In the middle of winter up here. I sit on my front porch and enjoy the moment. Also, brick has no presonal appeal, very stark and no emotion attached to it.. and before I hear back from others... I currently live in an all brick house low maintenance is great,, just no appeal
* Snee Farms (need to see more, liked it)
* Rivertowne (liked parts, need to see more)
* Darrell Creek (liked it the best... but too out there, rural for my wife)
* Carolina National (if I got the name right.. did not care for it)
* Hamlin Plantation (liked it and particularly my wife did through my many videos.. but to me, I would rather be north of 17, nearer to more communities and not a problem being a lil further to the beaches.
* Seaside Farms (completely missed it while there but want to take a look at it next time there

All I can remember without looking at my notes from my trip there.

Hope it helps !

Michael

PS did not notice any bugs while there (end of June)

Michael, thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I so much enjoyed reading your posts. I felt as if I was reading a book and am so looking forward to the ending. I'll be down in a couple of weeks to make my investigation, but I think at the moment I am leaning towards hamlin Plantation. Thanks again, I am a native new Yorker, moved to Virginia--loved it both in NY and VA and am looking forward to another adventure--thanks

There is quite a large Jewish population in Charlelston, especially in the Crescent area near South Windermere...and other areas as well. I have many Jewish friends and co-workers here.

Simply do some homework.... and you can find all about a Jewish presence in Charleston.
I found plenty of information here on city-data.. so a search and of course search via the regular search engines... I have so many websites saved showed this.

I can say quickly.. there are Orthodox, Conservative and Reform shuls in Charleston. One shul dates back to the 1700's.
There has been a Jewish presence in Charleston from the outset of Charleston and it is noted and appreciated with memorials.

We will be settling in Mt Pleasant and have little interest to drive to Charleston for some of the services.. thought Chas is so close.. we prefer to be with more local people to ourselves... as opposed to Charleston itself, West Ashley, James Is etc.

I have contacted Chabad in MP and through some e-mails and then personal phone calls... they welcome us with open arms.
And as stated in the beginning of my post... I am Jewish while my wife is of Muslim background. Our son now 1 year old had a religious brit milah, I bring him to shul on Holidays and will continue to be bring him up Jewish and as I said, Chabad there welcomed us... which I and my wife are interested to join.

Do some easy homework and find out all you want on a Jewish presence in Charleston
