Oh dear, I hope you aren't lumping Delaware in with NJ and Ohio!

Actually, I've spent the greater part of my life in Texas, though I studiously never say "y'all". Still, I think I should be able to communicate with you low country Southerners.

Well,

Anyone from north of, say, Virginia (and we're not 100% on them) is obviously a yankee.

Inland (mas o menos) Orangeburg, and you're in the Upcountry; not good either.

But that's old Charleston; a vanished classical society much like Ancient Rome or Athens.

I live in Northern Wisconsin, and I wish you well on your condoquest in the Lowcountry.

Just remember that Barrier Islands move- no matter what your real estate agent says.

Do you have many former residents of West Virginia and Southwestern PA (regions where I grew up)? I'm used to rural areas so to me Charleston is actually a fairly large city. I can't stand the horrible icy roads in the winter time(where I live now). As for "cliquishness" southwest PA is VERY much that way ---south of the Pittsburgh region. West Virginia people are friendlier but get stereotyped horribly.
