Default Charleston weather?

how often does it flood in and near charleston? I know hurricanes can come but are they worse near the coast or does it not matter when one hits?

In spots it floods every time there's a heavy rain shower that passes through. No hurricane needed.

If it drizzles during a full moon, it will flood downtown. The canes are naturally worse near the coast, however if one comes straight in, its not gonna make a big diff where u live.

Even just a strong on shore flow (winds) can bring in a higher than normal high tide and flood a lot of areas near the marshes, and tidal creeks and rivers. Hurricanes though bring the worst flooding...Hugo brought a 20' storm surge just north of MT P around Cape Romain and the town of McClellanville. I think Charleston Harbor had a 10' surge, which flooded the peninsula...some buildings have plaques marking where the water came up to on them.
