CT Young Professional considering moving to Charleston...need advice (living in, cost of)

Hey there,

I'm a 26 year old entrepreneur living in Connecticut, looking to move south within this next year. I've been looking for a coastal city that has culture, friendly people, business opportunities, inexpensive living, opportunities to get involved in the community and great weather...pretty much the opposite of CT. Of what I hear, Charleston has all that.
I guess I'm looking for a place I can set up shop, build a family life and make lots of friends all in warm weather year round.

Charleston pretty much meets all your looking for except cost of living...it's the highest cost of living in SC...

Defining "great weather" might be important as well. Much warmer in the winter than CT? Obviously. But are there any other weather issues to think about? The heat, the humidity, rain, hurricane-related deluges with wind? Where on earth is there unquestionably "great" weather? It's all a trade-off. Just one more aspect of the reality that there isn't any "best place" to live.
